Preserves built-in manufacturer apps such as Camera during managed-device setup. If unchecked, unavailable system apps can be restored later from Console > Packages by enabling the uninstalled system package.
Lets the device connect during setup without manual Wi-Fi entry. Credentials are embedded only into the QR code and are not sent to the server.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Turn on a brand new Android device. (If the device has already been used, you must factory reset it first).
- On the very first "Welcome" or "Hi there" screen, tap the screen 6 times in the exact same spot.
- A QR code scanner will open. Connect to Wi-Fi if prompted.
- Scan the QR code above.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to accept the Device Owner privileges.
Note: Android might display a scary warning stating "This device isn't private. Your IT admin may be able to see your data." Do not panic. Communication is fully encrypted, and you are the IT admin. Only you have access to this device via your Console.
- The device will download the app and appear in the "Newly Connected Devices" list above. Click "Trust" to complete setup.
